Honestly, I'm getting mildly interested in this new Friday the 13th. From the looks of Brad Fuller's blog they have definitely changed the storyline completely. Here's what he tells us in his blog:
Are you superstitious? I am not, but I am a bit freaked that the last day of the shooting schedule is falling on Friday, June 13th.
So get this; the movie wraps on Friday the 13th and then the movie opens on the next Friday the 13th on the calendar, which is Friday, February 13th, 2009. Is that enough bad luck for you?
At this point the kills are now in double digits and span the gamut from blood filled and drawn out to quick and surprising. We have kills that fans will recognize, but we have added a twist or three - some kills that you have never seen before. The kids in this film also have a lot of fun... drinking, smoking weed and having sex. There are tons of all three.
And finally we have the big man with the machete. We have worked hard to create a Jason who is a cold blooded killing machine and Derek Mears has brought so much more to the iconic character. Derek, at his core is a huge horror geek and is constantly asking himself... "Would Jason do that?". It really elevates the film to have an actor who has so much respect for the character and franchise and is always concerned about keeping the character true to its roots. In fact, he is so committed that he got married during the shoot and only missed one day. Watch out because there is a Mrs. Voorhees who is owed a honeymoon...
Ok, now I have questions, when did Jason start to think? Is Mrs. Voorhies, his wife now? That's the new Camp Crystal Lake sign above, btw.
And even more: Check it out, you get to see the "new" Jason Mask and the new Jason sans his make-up.

I'm sure I will watch this but I don't care for the diss on Kane Holder's Jason. He did a great job and I've read enough triva to presume he was a pretty decent guy. Not to mention that often times it was Kane Holder playing Jason even when it was supposed to be. As for the rest, it does sound like the went back to hard-core horror but time will tell us if its Scary or just gory. Oh and the Mrs. Voorhies is referring to Derek Mears getting married during the shoot (brave little woman!) and only missing one day of shooting.
Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints.
1Oops 3rd sentence, it wasn't Kane Holder playing Jason even when it was supposed to be. They often had various stuntmen and I think even a special effects guy do it once.
Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints.
